Question: What should I/we wear? Answer: There are a multitude of "rules" about clothing choice. My rule is BE COMFORTABLE IN YOUR CLOTHES. That means you should feel like yourself in your clothes and your clothes should fit properly. For couples, color coordination is usually a good approach. It's the same for family groups. If you have a large group with sub groups like grandparents and two or three of their children each with their children, then each sub group can be color coordinated within a color family or contrasting colors. Enough said! Question: What time of day should pictures be taken? Answer: Controlling the light is important in good photography. When shooting outside, we can shoot at almost anytime during the day up until near sunset if desired. With the help of one or two assistants (one would be mine) we can control the direction and intensity of light for the best possible results. Question: Where should I/we have our pictures taken? Answer: I don't have a studio so pictures are taken outside for the most part. If you don't have a favorite or special location, I have several we can use. I can also shoot pictures at your home if you want. Another available indoor location is the Hotel at Oldtown. They welcome photography in the lobby area. The outdoor locations I use include those with multiple looks and feels including water, bricks, rock, wrought iron, and of course trees and bushes and flowers (in season). Question: Why should I hire you to take my photographs? Answer: Okay so most people don't really ask this question but they may think it. It's true that photography is not my main profession (I am a school psychologist) but you can see by my photographs on the web site that my work does not look part time. I have the advantage of not needing to charge the same fees as the full time professionals to make a living. My rates are much lower and you get a copyright release to be able to print your photographs at any time and in any way you desire without paying me another cent. If you don't want to do it your self, my assistant, Dena Davis (who is also my secretary for my school psychology work) will gladly handle any printing, album or other needs you may have and pay her directly for her services (which are also very reasonable and below the going market rates). Either way, you get a professional job for far less than the other full time professionals need to charge to make a fair living.
